Thank you for registering for the Fall 2015 season of Little Lakers Flag Football! In order to ensure we have another great season, we will be holding our skills combine and draft tomorrow evening at 6:30pm. Please know that this is not a “try-out,” as everyone registered for the league will be drafted to a team. The purpose of this event is to help coaches evaluate the athletic ability of each participant, so fair and balanced teams can be selected for the season. Please see below for further information.
Location and Time
The skills combine and draft will take place on the varsity football field at Windermere Prep. For those of you unfamiliar with campus, bear right after entering the campus and follow the road back behind the high school building. The football field is located adjacent to the baseball field, which is visible from this parking lot.
The skills combine will start at 6:30pm and end at 7:15pm. We will ask coaches to stay longer to complete the draft.
We rely on volunteer coaches to help coach all of our teams. If any parents are interested in coaching, please check in with Jason Kelly or Jacob Doss before the draft starts. We will have several of the WPS varsity football players out to help coach teams as well.
In the event of inclement weather tomorrow night, we will postpone the skills combine and draft. If there is a possibility of inclement weather, a decision will be made at 6pm. We will notify everyone via email and through our Facebook page. In the event that we do postpone the combine, we will try again on Wednesday night.
What to Bring?
Cleats are not mandatory, but we will be putting the participants through some agility drills, so if you have cleats, please bring them. We will be providing flags as well as football for the event. Although we will not be on the field long, we recommend brining a water bottle as it could be very hot and humid.
What Happens After the Combine?
We will gather the coaches for each division and the coaches will go through a draft selection process. This process will continue until each participant is assigned a team. All parents will then receive an email notification when rosters and schedules are posted to our website. Coaches will receive team rosters that include contact information for every team member. Your team’s coach will then be in contact regarding the first game and any practices.
